The project will provide a flagship model of a community owned stadium hub. This will enable Bees United and Brentford FC to build on the strong foundation of the club’s renowned Football in the Community scheme and the Griffin Park Learning Zone, using the power of sport to attract children, youths and adults into education, health and community activities in an innovative and exciting environment. The potential to impact on social inclusion, employment, training and the wider determinants of health is huge. For the London 2012 Olympics, the stadium complex could also have a part to play in providing some of the pre-games training facilities in West London; LOCOG has recently announced that Brentford FC is included on a list of pre-games training facilities to be offered to visiting teams.
